Apart from the inevitable eraser shavings that come with being a piano teacher, this old upright (1960) is still playing well, though it needs regular maintenance. Without regular maintenance, it will sound like a broken accordion in no time flat! On this scheduled maintenance, two visits were needed. I ordered tuning, voicing, and regulating. What does it mean? Take a look at the video below. It explains the regulation “triangle.”
Maryland State Music Theory Exams are held throughout the year. The Donnelly Music Studio will participate this March. Six students will attend and go for the gold! After six consecutive honor roll scores, students earn a trophy given to them by the Maryland State Music Teachers’ Association in conjunction with the Royal Conservatory of Music “Celebrate Theory” series.
An elementary school student from the Donnelly Music Studio participated in a local MTA Valentine’s Day Recital. This year, the theme was Poetry and Music. Students selected a poem to go with their music. Happy Valentine’s Day!
